14 people run from plane after emergency landing forced by a woman 'faking' labor

Spanish police are searching for 14 individuals who successfully ran away from a commercial airplane after an emergency landing at Barcelona's El Prat Airport. The emergency landing had been forced by a woman who claimed that she was going into labor, though medical examinations later proved this false.

The Pegasus Airlines flight, from Morocco to Turkey, landed on Wednesday afternoon due to the woman's claim that she was about to give birth. Upon landing, a group of 28 individuals tried to flee the aircraft. Police were able to stop half of them, but 14 managed to escape and have yet to be apprehended.

The woman who allegedly faked giving birth was arrested on suspicion of public disorder offenses, while the other five people who were caught agreed to be put back on the flight. The remaining individuals are being processed for non-admission into Spain and will likely be sent back on another Pegasus Airlines flight out of the country.

At the time of the incident, there were 228 passengers aboard the Airbus A321, which was identified as flight PC652. A delay of over three hours had occurred before the plane finally landed in Istanbul at 1:10 pm local time.

This emergency landing had been similar to one that happened more than a year ago, wherein a group of passengers on a Casablanca-to-Istanbul flight fled their aircraft onto the runway in Mallorca. Out of the 24 who disembarked, twelve were arrested, while the other half managed to escape. It is unknown what the nationality of any of these individuals was or why they had been fleeing.

Authorities are still looking for answers to many questions and are asking the public to contact them with any helpful information they may have.  They are also working to apprehend the 14 individuals who remain at large in connection with this incident.  It is unknown at this time whether or not anyone else was involved in the incident or if it was solely caused by the woman claiming she was going into labor. The investigation is ongoing.

The Spanish government's office has not released any further information about the incident at this time.  However, they are continuing to work with authorities and encouraging anyone with potential knowledge regarding the situation to come forward. It is unclear when the individuals involved in the incident will be apprehended or what their ultimate fate may be. Only time will tell.
